Perhaps you have even overindulged in our Southern sweet tea and classic plates like Shrimp & Grits or Southern Fried Chicken. Before you leave, make sure you visit Chick-Fil-A. Traffic on Hwy 400 South gets pretty heavy near I-285 in the afternoon despite traffic going the opposite way. In addition, Alpharetta has been ranked #3 for Best Suburbs to Live in Georgia, #3 for Best Suburbs to Raise a Family in Georgia, #9 for Best Places to Buy a House in Georgia and for Best Public Schools in Georgia. Stat sheet aside Alpharetta is home to a number of company headquarters, a plethora of fine dining options (Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse), dog parks (Newtown Dream Dog Park), concert venues (Verizon Wireless Amphitheater), outdoor attractions (Autrey Mill Nature Preserve), and a diverse population you can interact with at local gathering venues like Avalon. However, Alpharetta has a median home value on the higher side at $463,000. Where You Should Live If You Work In Alpharetta – To The South
There are two great options for cities where you should live if you work in Alpharetta relatively close to Alpharetta and therefore, close to work. The first on the list is the city of Roswell. Roswell is a tad closer to Atlanta and borders Alpharetta on its West and Southside. Why might you like Roswell? Roswell has a great Downtown scene filled with dining, boutiques, and nightlife. Roswell has more than a few highly reviewed bars, namely Vin25, a local favorite. In addition, Roswell has a rich heritage and plenty ‘to-do’. Synergy Fine Art, Roswell Cultural Arts Center, and a casual stroll between Canton St. and Woodstock St. can justify Roswell being where you should live if you work in Alpharetta. With a median home value of $387,500 you are likely to find a better range of affordable housing options in Roswell. Living in Roswell, accessible from Exit 6 and 7 on HWY 400, you could expect a commute of at least 30 minutes North or East (locally) to Alpharetta. Where You Should Live If You Work In Alpharetta – To The North
Cumming, my personal favorite, comes second on the list of where you should live if you work in Alpharetta. Cumming is both an established and developing city; home to top public schools, mixed-use developments (The Collection at Forsyth), greenways (Big Creek Greenway), natural attractions (Lake Lanier), and family friendly activities (Warbington Farms).
With a median home value of $294,000 it is extremely budget friendly and community focused. Surprisingly, you can get the same quality of home construction as you would in Alpharetta for HALF the price, with the same access to amenities and a decent commute to work. Living in Cumming, accessible from exit 13 to 17 and upward and working in Alpharetta you could expect a commute of at least 30 minutes to the South via Hwy 400 or local roads.
